mini sea turtle free crochet pattern
although we sea turtle (get it?) all the time during my dives, i still see them with awe on how gracious they swim through, or just sitting there zoning out.
this crochet pattern is probably my favorite one to crochet, and i hope you like it too!
while the parts are easy to make and beginner-friendly, there are a lot of sewing happening here, and to be honest it's quite troublesome. but it's worth it, so hang in there!

materials and tools:
- 3, 3.5, 4 mm hooks (the bigger your hook the bigger the sea turtle)
- milk cotton yarn (one for the shell, one for the head and limbs)
- sewing needle
- dacron for stuffing
- 8mm eyes
- stitch marker
- scissors
- keychain
abbreviations:
SC: single crochet
INC: increase (2 SC in 1 stitch)
DEC: decrease
MR: magic ring
INC: increase (2 SC in 1 stitch)
DEC: decrease
MR: magic ring
R: round
SS: slip stitch
HDC: half double crochet
CH: chain
(x): total stitches
we'll start from the head:
R1: 6 SC in MR (6)
R2: 6 INC (12)
R2: 6 INC (12)
R3-4: 12 SC (12)
you can attach the eye now or just glue them later. stuff the head with some dacron
R5: 6 DEC (6)
finish off but leave a long tail for sewing.
front fins (make 2 of them with the same color of the head):
R1: 6 SC in MR (6)
R2: 6 INC (12)
R2: 6 INC (12)
R3: 6 (SC, INC) (18)
R4: 18 SC (18)
don't stuff, flatten it and stitch the edges with SC.
leave a long tail for sewing.
back fins (make 2 of them):
R1: 5 SC in MR (5)
R2: 5 INC (10)

don't stuff, flatten it and stitch the edges with SC.
leave a long tail for sewing.
shell:

SS on the next stitch and hide the tail inside the shell.
inner shell (same color as the head):
flip the shell, skip 1 row, find a loop and make 1 chain and 1 SC to secure it (this is the first SC of this round)

R3: 6 (SC, DEC, SC) (18)

stuff the shell and seal it off
assembling:
attach all the parts, and your mini sea turtle is done! you can add keychain to the top of the shell, or the butt.
